Being a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and in particular, Eastern Marine Branch 161, has many benefits:

Firstly, you are part of the largest veterans organization in Canada; having some 340,000 members in 261 branches across Canada, 14 branches in the United States and 5 branches in Europe.   As well, Royal Canadian Legion members are welcome in the US Legion Posts and British Legion branches so almost anywhere you go, there is a Legion branch where you will be welcomed.

Secondly, as a member of the Branch, you are helping the community through donations and support to local youth activities, sports teams and in case of personal disaster.  Let us not forget, though, that the primary role of the Legion in assisting veterans.

Included in your annual dues is a six issue subscription to the Legion magazine.  The magazine has received several awards for the quality of its content and photos; if purchased at a news stand, the magazine would cost you $6.85 per issue.  The Legion magazine publishes articles about:

• Canada's military history, hertitage and activities
• current events in veteran affairs and defence policy 
• the Legions efforts to improve the quality of care and support to veterans 

The Legion is constantly working with businesses and corporations to offer special deals and discounts to its members.  Presently, 12 companies have joined the Legion's Members Benefit Programme and the number is growing.
