Activities - 2024

Our 2023 Poppy Campaign activities will begin on Friday October 25th and ran through to Remembrance Day, Monday, November 11th

Wednesday October 23th   -  First Poppy - presented at the Lake Echo Seniors Club at the Lake Echo Comminuty Centre.  Please join branch members and your friends from the community at 7 pm.  Legion dress is encouraged.

Friday October 25th – the first day to wear your Poppy.   Poppy distribution begins at Tim Hortons and the Superstore.  Please remember we do not sell poppies, poppies are a gift from the Legion for people to show their support for veterans,

Friday October 25th to Sunday, November 10th - distribution of poppies at Tim Hortons and the Superstore.  Volunteers are needed to man our displays - times vary so that you can chose a slot that fits your schedule.  The schedule is posted at the Branch.

Sunday October 27th - Branch Honour Roll where we remember our Branch comrades.  It is an informal ceremony at the flag pole followed by a reception in the Branch.  

Sunday November 5th   -   Remembrance Church Service - at the Calvin United Church, 3795 Hwy 207, Lawerencetown.  Please arrive no later than 9:15 am as we are being piped into the church.

Tuesday November 7th to Friday November 8th - School Visits - our local schools invite you to attend their Remembrance assemblies arranged by the students and staff to acknowledge the scarifice of veterans and families.  Please wear Legion dress or something showing you are a Legion comrade - this is to distinguish us from other guests.     Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start. 

 

Sunday November 10th - Church Service at All Apostles by the Sea Anglican Church in Seaforth, 6023 Highway 207.  The service begins at 10 AM so please arrive by 9:40 as we march into the church.  The Church is re-dedicating four WWI and WII scrolls that honour veterans who served in the Seaforth, Porters Lake and Chezzetcook area.

 

Monday November 11th -

Remembrance Day ceremony at the Porters Lake Cenotaph on Highway #7 and James Roy Drive, beginning at 10:55 am.  Spectators are asked to arrive by 10:30 and to park in the Superstore parking lot.

 

Post Ceremony reception at the Branch beginning once parade participants arrive, about 12:30 pm.  Refreshments will be served - downstairs for adults and upstairs for youth.
